Choosing the right songs for your wedding day can definitely seem like a big task, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming! The music that you pick for the key moments is about reflecting your personality, your love story, and the vibe you want for your big day.
Whether you opt for recorded songs or live music, each option has its perks. As a live music duo, we may be a little biased, but we believe live music offers something extra special! Not only does it create a beautiful, intimate atmosphere, it also brings flexibility, allowing us to adjust the timing to suit the flow of your ceremony. We regularly perform live acoustic versions of songs for wedding ceremonies, adding a personal touch that makes each moment feel unique.
We’re excited to share some tips and recommendations of our favourite song ideas to guide you through the three parts of your wedding ceremony that need music: from the aisle entrance, to the signing of the marriage register, to your first celebratory walk back down the aisle as newlyweds!

1. The Aisle Song / Processional / Bridal Entrance
The first big moment of your day has finally arrived… you are about to walk down the aisle, past all of your family and friends who have gathered to celebrate your love and relationship, toward your best friend—the person you're about to marry! This is the moment where time seems to slow down, and the music sets the tone for what’s to come. Your aisle song isn’t just background music—it’s the soundtrack to this special moment.
We love a beautiful, slower song for this moment; something to really enhance the magic of the moment—and maybe make everyone cry happy tears too! Take a look below for a list of some popular aisle song choices, along with some of our personal favourites, and some alternative/unexpected options too.
Popular Aisle Song Choices:
Feels Like Home - Chantal Kreviazuk
I Get To Love You - Ruelle
A Thousand Years - Christina Perri
How Long Will I Love You - Ellie Goulding
Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran
I’m With You - Vance Joy
Our Favourite Aisle Songs:
Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis Presley (also a popular choice!)
Simply The Best - Tina Turner / Schitt’s Creek version
Here Comes The Sun - The Beatles
Make You Feel My Love - Adele / Bob Dylan
Have I Told You Lately (That I Love You) - Van Morrison / Rod Stewart
Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You - Frankie Valli
Alternative/Unexpected Choices:
First Date - Blink 182
Still Into You - Paramore
Ain’t Nobody - Chaka Khan
First Day Of My Life - Bright Eyes
Finally - CeCe Peniston
Tip: If you're struggling to pick the perfect song… honestly, don't worry too much! Many of our couples have told us that, in the moment, they were so caught up in the emotions and excitement that they barely even noticed the music! With everything happening at once, it’s easy for the whole experience to become a bit of a happy blur. So, trust that whatever you choose will be just right!
2. Signing The Register Songs
During this section of the ceremony, you two love birds will step aside—along with your celebrant and witnesses—to sign the marriage certificate and make it all official. Meanwhile, your guests will remain where they are and prepare for the upcoming announcement of you as newlyweds! As far as song selections go, this moment has quite a bit of flexibility and is a great opportunity to include something unique—whether that’s a personal favourite, an indie gem, or something more obscure that reflects your personality as a couple. We recommend selecting 2 songs to play during the signing, so there’s plenty of music to accompany this moment, and no awkward silences!
Our Favourite Signing Songs:
Better Together - Jack Johnson
You Make My Dreams (Come True) - Hall & Oates
Home - Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
Crazy In Love - Beyonce
All You Need Is Love - The Beatles
Lover - Taylor Swift
Chateau - Angus & Julia Stone
Lovely Day - Bill Withers
Everywhere - Fleetwood Mac
Two Strong Hearts - John Farnham
You’re My Best Friend - Queen
Tip: Remember, this is the perfect chance to incorporate a song you love that might not be a typical “wedding” choice. It’s a great way to add a personal touch, so don’t be afraid to get creative and have fun with it! How about a sweet, acoustic version of Come As You Are by Nirvana, or Walking On A Dream by Empire Of The Sun, or even VCR by The XX?
3. The Recessional / Walking Back Down The Aisle As Newlyweds!
You did it! You are officially married! Now it's time to celebrate! Once your celebrant announces you as newlyweds, you begin your walk back down the aisle together, as your guests rise to their feet in celebration, and perhaps shower you with petals or eco-confetti. This moment is a feel-good, joyful one that we think deserves an upbeat, energetic song to accompany it! Have a look at some of our recommendations below.
Our Recessional Song Suggestions:
Signed, Sealed, Delivered - Stevie Wonder
Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Queen
You’ve Got The Love - Florence And The Machine
Kiss Me - Sixpence None The Richer
I Love You Always Forever - Donna Lewis / Betty Who
Send Me On My Way - Rusted Root
(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher - Jackie Wilson
Tip: Starting with the Chorus is a great idea for this moment, so the music is at full energy for your walk back down the aisle. Also - don’t rush it! Try to remember to take your time - look up, walk slowly and take it all in. Perhaps even stop half way down the aisle for a sneaky dip-and-kiss?!
